Matchworn Ajax shirt #13 – Centenary Match 2000 – Collection Jan Wouters

A shirt for one hundred years of Ajax!

This Ajax shirt is no ordinary shirt. It was made for one single match: the centenary celebration of AFC Ajax on 19 March 2000, when the club marked its 100th birthday with a home match against FC Twente in the Amsterdam ArenA. For this occasion, Ajax played in specially made retro shirts, a nod to the club's early history, with the heavy cotton fabric, buttoned collar and stitched numbers of days gone by. The celebration did not go to plan: Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored the only goal of the game, and FC Twente won 0-1 despite playing the entire second half with ten men. The defeat proved to be the final match of Jan Wouters as head coach of Ajax. This number 13 shirt comes from Wouters' personal collection: a unique memento of the club's hundredth birthday and of the last match of one of Ajax's great figures in the dugout. The shirts from this centenary match have become sought-after collector's items among Ajax fans.

The shirt is in very good condition. All details remain intact, including the classic buttoned collar, the red cuffs and the stitched number 13 on the back. An FC Robinstijn authenticity certificate is included, giving you as the buyer the assurance that you are receiving a genuine item.
